Golf Stuff
Golf
is one of the oldest sports known to man, with numerous
unanswered questions about it's beginning. The origin is
open to debate as to being Scottish, Chinese, or
Dutch. Nevertheless, current golf is considered to be a
Scottish innovation, as the sport was alluded to in two
15th century laws barring the playing of the game of
gowf. The first game of golf for which documentation
survives was played at Bruntsfield Links, in Edinburgh,
Scotland, in A.D. 1456, recorded in the historical
documents of the Edinburgh Burgess Golfing Society, now
The Royal Burgess Golfing Society. The game is now
a worldwide sport, with courses in the majority of all
countries.
People
think the easy thing about the game is that the ball is still.
It can be a very tough game, even for pros. The problem
is that golf is a very formidable game to grasp and you
don't have enough time to practice to really improve
significantly. It is not rocket science, but for all of the
inaccurate reasons, it has been molded to look that way. As
with just about anything else, regular practice will improve
your results and usually makes the game a lot more
enjoyable.
The game
is a balancing act between physical fitness, equipment,
conditions, swing technique, coordination, and physical
fitness, to name just a few. Players walk (or drive in
motorized carts) over the golf course either singly or in a
party of two, three, or four, sometimes accompanied by
caddies who handle and deal with the players' gear and
offer them guidance. In almost all common approachs of
gameplay, each player plays his or her ball from the tee until
it is holed.
One of the
most satisfying things in golf is watching a well struck ball
fly to its target and then softly land. Everything in a real
game of golf is included, such as water hazards, sand
traps, trees, bushes, wind, and different seasons of play. For
a lot of people learning an easy golf swing is a great
relaxing activity. The ultimate objective of golf is to
complete the round and come in under par. They say golf
is like life, but don't believe them.
Bear in
mind, the game is supposed to be entertaining and pleasureful.
Bob Hope was once quoted,"Golf is the most fun you can have
without taking your clothes off!" Golf, if played
miserably, is not a lot of fun. It is an honorable game played
by a staggering amount of honorable people who don't need
referees. It is a game that calls for some serious
concentration, so being loud or unruly on the golf course is
disturbing to your fellow players. It has become so favored,
that a lot of families plan an entire vacation to some of
the most fabulous golf resorts in the world.
